The perfect weekend
This past weekend was everything I needed and more.
It started with the NAMI Walks LA Event on Saturday at Grand Park. This was the first mental health event I’ve been a part of and it was incredible. It was a really good experience for my boyfriend and I. I’m honestly so blessed to have such an amazing partner through all of this. We arrived at the event an hour before the actual walk began. It gave us a chance to check in and meet a lot people. It’s always amazing to speak with others who face the same battles you do. It’s a beautiful thing to see people come together for a cause that affects so many. Walking together as one to end the stigma once and for all. The highlight of the event was finally meeting my fellow Wear Your Label Ambassador and mental health advocate Rudy Caseres! Over all it was a great morning, filled with positivity and hope. I want to say thank you to everyone who donated to my NAMI Walks page. I reached my goal of $100 thanks to all of you. I really appreciate it!
After the walk, we were off to San Diego for our little getaway. We enjoyed the drive down there listening to music from our high school days. It takes us back to when we first started dating. On the way to the hotel, we stopped in Oceanside to visit my cousin and see her new house! It was such a great time catching up with her and seeing everything she has accomplished. Once we finally arrived in San Diego and got settled at the hotel, we were off to dinner. It was a nice evening out together; we ate dinner, walked around, and enjoyed each other’s company. The next morning we woke up early and went for a hike at Torrey Pines in La Jolla. The hike was breathe taking. We watched the sunrise and enjoyed the views of the ocean. If you are in the San Diego area and love to hike, check it out! We spent the rest of the day exploring San Diego. We took a trip to Coronado Island, explored downtown, and grabbed some lunch. It was a really relaxing day.
Our weekend ended with the Coldplay concert on Sunday night. This was my second time seeing them in concert and it was just has magical as the first. I saw them last year at the Rose Bowl and was completely blown away. The very next day I was looking for tickets for their next concert. Luckily, they extended their tour and I was able to get tickets for San Diego. This time I had to share the experience with my boyfriend. If you’ve never seen them in concert before, you are definitely missing out! Seriously, one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. Everyone should see them at least once in their lives, you won’t be disappointed! I can’t even begin to describe how awesome the show is. The atmosphere is amazing, everyone in that stadium is genuinely happy. It’s such a positive environment where people are having the time of their lives. Coldplay is such a talented band, just being in the crowd you can just see how their music has changed so many lives. If I could go to a Coldplay concert once a year, my life would be complete. Honestly, there are no words to describe what you will experience. You just have to see for yourself! It's a beautiful thing when music heals the soul.
"Lights will guide you home."
I can't wait for more weekends like this. Where I can just live in the moment and enjoy life. Sometimes you have to step away and take a break from reality.
love, Jess
